Garden
We've done it again.

I asked landlady for a little ground for a couple tomatoes, and she gave us a patch of dirt the size of a queen-sized bed.

We've gotten a pitchfork, a rake, and a funny-looking tool (the last two free), manure, peat moss, and weedcloth.

We've gotten 2 tomato plants, 4 different kinds of pepper plant, strawberries, parsley, and purple basil. I can't find my turnip green seeds, though. :-/

We've turned over the ground, dug out maybe half of the rocks, turned in the peat & the manure, and covered it with ground cloth. Tomorrow, we'll plant the plants.

Yay!

Maybe wait a day or two more as they are predicting frost tonight and tomorrow night. Plus the wind. Oh my God is the wind blowing. We tied a rope over the greenhouse and parked the Jeep in front of it to maybe keep it in place.

Yeah, everything has been sitting on a table in the house for a week. Today, we'll put cloches on it all after planting it. :-)

Mom told me about parking the Jeep in front of the greenhouse! ;-)

What does said "Funny tool" look like?

It has a handle of about 18", a pointy bit on one end like a flat hand-shovel that spreads to a flat bit sticking out the back, like the unholy union of a shovel & a hatchet.

If it looks kind of like this

Then the pointy end is a pick to help you break up harder soil, like clay, while the other end is for digging.

More or less, yep, and we've been using it to deal with the serious rock problem. Thanks!

Yay!

I totally approve, and am looking forward to pictures. Between you and my parents, I at least get to grow things vicariously.
