Autumn - Lissa's Glade
Beneath the Trees
Long time no post (here, at least; more active in aldersprig lately).

It's a lovely autumn, and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Yesterday, we went to a couple wineries on Seneca Lake (there's about a zillion, but we only stopped at two): Penugin Bay and Red Newt. Lovely drive, lovely wines.

We went for a minihike in Finger Lakes National Forest (our new favorite place) afterward, and then home a random-craving dinner of sketti & meatballs.

Since January, I've lost 42.4 lbs. Woo! 7.6 to my smallest goal to go!

Writing happens, quite a bit. Alabacon happened, and rocks. Work happens.

What happens in your sandbox?

It turns out I have lost about 20 pounds in the past five months. Which is great.

Writing inches along, although most of this weekend was spent not writing and looking for my notes (which turned out to be less cool than I remembered them being).

I'm also trying out some new hobby stuff, and working on a Halloween costume (which I have managed to sew wrong, in spite of reading the directions twice).

Road-tripping with a friend to Old Orchard Beach Halloween weekend for Sharon Lee's book release party. I've never been there, so it should be fun.

New hobby stuff? Tell Tell!

Woo, 20 lbs is pretty cool!

I was surprised by the 20 lbs. Though the Wii may not be accurate - I plan to compare it to my doctor's scale. Still, I'm pretty happy.

New hobby stuff is possibly the oldest hobby I've had - dolls. I'd forgotten how I used to turn them into characters. It's a bit silly, but fun. And relaxing.

Dolls? *Curious*

Are your clothes fitting more nicely again?
eseme From: eseme Date: October 26th, 2010 10:19 pm (UTC) (Link)
They are! A number of shirts I bought while working retail fit again.

And I am about at the point of "invest in new pants or invest in belts." Though I should have some pairs around here that got too small...

Wardrobe reduction needs to happen again, I think.

As for dolls, I always made them into characters and gave them stories. Heck, the Barbies did not have one communal closet - I had a little box for each one with her clothes in it (and I knew which ones liked which colors and styles). These days there are even jointed dolls - elbows and wrists bend. They can pose! Which means it is even more fun to make characters, costumes, and props.

But I've always liked dolls (and dollhouses). Miniature stuff is just cool, for reasons that I can't really articulate.

So right now I have a puck-ish girl with purple hair, a gypsy, and a few random guys who haven't decided if they are in a fantasy setting or a modern one. And one head I have been slowly giving new hair since the Olympics were last on TV...

It keeps me busy and it's fun. Though I have not done much doll-sized sewing. I am having enough trouble with the human-sized costume, let alone something 1/6th the size!

I'm management now. I work, play games, hang out with the girl, and enjoy my new car as much as I can.

Glad to hear you're doing well... We should do lunch or something sometime.

Be well.

You exist? Wow.

Grats on girl, car, management.

Was without internet when I moved out of Goblin Haus. The pirated internet locked their net down and I had no internet. Always existed... just not in cyberspace.

Anyways, glad you're doing well on the writing and the like. Is good to know friends are doing well with what they like to do.

Thanks for the grats. Be well.
